We are delighted to be able to tell you that our guest speaker is Carol Savage, MD and founder of MyDish, a recipe-sharing website for people to connect with friends and share their recipes, and to find great homemade recipes.
Carol set up MyDish.co.uk after her husband Kenny’s mother passed away. He brought home two scraps of paper with her hand-written recipes that he remembered from when he was a boy — Banana Bread and Lemon Meringue Pie. Carol loved the idea of being able to share recipes through a community website where visitors can add a profile, connect to friends, and even rate each other’s efforts in the kitchen.
After personally raising £600,000 Carol went on to make TV history on the BBC2 programme “Dragon’s Den” when the tough Dragons offered her double what she was asking for.
Carol will talk about setting up an online business, going on Dragon’s Den (the reality, not what you see on TV) and the impact this has made on the business.
Prior to setting up MyDish Carol ran a company that specialized in providing part-time and flexible work for people, and consultancy on different ways of working, to organizations large and small. She set up Flexecutive (The Resource Connection) and sold it after 7 years.
Carol has 15 years of consumer marketing experience, having been marketing manager at Disney and Head of Marketing for the coffee division of Sara Lee. She has also worked for a number of brands in Whitbread including Beefeater and Pizza Hut. Carol completed her MBA at London Business School while on her maternity break.
