The impact on businesses of all sizes of the widespread provision of fibre-based, next generation access networks and services is likely to be positive. However, there are still some unknowns and this briefing is intended to lift the lid on the uncertainties.

There will be a post-election review by BIS officials on national broadband policy and plans. An assessment by CMA members on some of the problems that next generation access services might cause, and responses from the fixed line and mobile industries and what is happening across the rest of Europe and an update on local broadband initiatives.
