"What will a companionable computational agent be like?"

The lecture is free and open to all.
The lecture will look at the state of the art in modelling realistic conversation with computers over the last 40 years. Ask what we want in a long-term conversational agent and will distinguish several functions for such agents. The lecture will discuss the prospects for machine learning in the conversational modelling field and progress to date on incorporating notions of emotion into AI systems.
